Greetings:
August was again another busy month rounding out some major tournaments, including the AMGA Snowcapper, as well as the ALGA Club Championship. Congratulations to our 2023 Champion, Denise Bowers, our Senior Club Champion, Terry Dukes, and our Silver Division Champion, Betty Jean Dobbins. September brings another busy month beginning with the AMGA Lonesome Pine. The rest of the month will fill in with play days, member groups, and our “Party of Fore!” later in the month.
Our courses are in fantastic shape, considering a dry July and a late monsoon. Glenn, Joe, and their crews have done a fantastic job in bringing such a product for all to enjoy!
CLUB REPAIR/REGRIPPING: We are set up to do some minor club repair and regripping at Outlaw. If you are in need of these services, please inquire with Matt Davis at Outlaw and he will get you taken care of. He does stock some grips and can special order if he does not have it in stock.
BILLING NO SHOWS: Just a housekeeping issue that needs mentioning. If you do not show up for your tee time you will be billed for it. As we are in full season, these tee times are precious to everyone. Please keep track of all your bookings and please cancel if you do not play.
UPCOMING IN SEPTEMBER:
AMGA LONESOME PINE: 9/5-9/7(Alto and Outlaw) 8:00 AM all days
BORDER: 9/13(ALTO 8:00 AM)
JAIME & THE REDNECKS: 9/14-9/16; ALTO, ALTO, OL
PARTY OF FORE!: 9/22-9/23(ALTO & OUTLAW 8:30 AM)
MIKE HAYES INVITATIONAL: 9/28-9/30(ALTO, OL, ALTO)
AERATION: 9/25-9/26(ALTO CLOSED), 9/27-9/28(OUTLAW CLOSED)
Please refer to the club website Golf Tournament Portal for further details on these events.
DRIVING RANGES: Both of our driving ranges are probably the busiest of any club in the country. That being said, it takes a village to keep up with operating them, especially picking the sides. Doing this requires occasionally closing in order to keep up. It’s all based on use. If the use is up, we need to look after the sides. Thank you for your patience and understanding with this.
HOLE IN ONE REPORT: We have 4 to report in August. Joe Thompson aced the 11th hole at Alto with a 6-hybrid from 160 yards. He was witnessed by John Bader and Garry Anderson. Terry “Big Bear” Stahl had one on #17 at Alto with a pitching wedge from 116 yards. He was witnessed by Mack Massey, Rolla Hinkle, and Norman Allen. Gary McConnell had one on #5 at Outlaw. He was witnessed by Jaime Torres and Frank Braden. Bob Kewley had a hole-in-one on #5 at Alto using a wedge from 117. He was witnessed by his wife Lonie. His career HIO total is now 3; with 2 on this hole. Great shots to all of you!
Are you in the Hole-in-One Club? If you are interested please contact Charisse Wadsworth at [email protected]. The program costs $5 per person and reloads each time a Hole-in-One participant makes a hole-in-one. Each Golf Shop has a simple form to fill out should you have one. Inquire at either Golf Shop for the form.
