John Rogers-Merchandiser of the Year

The prestigious PGA Merchandiser of the Year Award has been missing from Alto’s many golf accolades since 1999—but it reappeared in 2024, awarded to our own Director of Golf, John Rogers. John has spent the last several years improving the look of and sales at Alto’s golf shops, especially the main shop at the Alto Clubhouse.

“I’ve always been interested in merchandising golf retail,” John says. “There’s a lot that goes into it, more than just buying merchandise and gear and arranging it on shelves.” He goes on to explain, “You have to study merchandising techniques and trends, and then there’s personal philosophy, ethics, and methods that go into running a really successful golf shop. You have to know that learning your customer never ends, no matter what type of facility you are merchandising at.”

A heartfelt Happy New to all! A trying year comes to a close, opening the door for a hopefully prosperous and peaceful 2025. Our community and club continues to strive and work diligently to keep building Ruidoso stronger. Onto 2025! We have the event calendar complete and available for your viewing on the club website. December 2024

A happy holiday season to all at Alto! Days are shortening and temperatures are dropping as winter is here. We are working on the tournament calendar for 2025, which is nearly complete. Look for the final published version to be completed in early January; it will be available on the website and sent out through all associations, as well.

November 2024

Well, another season in the books at Alto. It has been quite a ride this year with the fire/flood disruption and many events being canceled or repositioned. At any rate, it was a challenging season, most importantly for all of our Alto family that suffered any loss, local businesses that were challenged to stay afloat, etc. On that note, let’s call it a season to put behind us! We are excited for next year and are in the process of putting together the tournament calendar.

October 2024

Weather continues to be glorious as we are set into Fall. It is great to be able to have all of these nice golf days knowing that cooler temperatures are coming soon. In addition, our courses continue to be in beautiful shape! Tee times are also readily available at all courses as the demand has ceased a bit. As far as tournaments, we just have a few association play days remaining for October. The ALGA Club Championship will be held on October 8-9 (Alto/Outlaw). This event will be consecutive tee times starting at 8:30AM at each course. Please feel free to register if you haven’t already.
