Greetings and Happy New Year:
Well, another year passes just like that! We are looking forward to 2023 for a number of reasons. Our front nine tee boxes will be in play for a target of May 1st. This will obviously make daily and tournament play a lot more manageable and fair. In addition, our practice range will be open as well, with a similar target date as mentioned above. It will be nice to get back to where we were before our projects began. On that note, we’d like to thank all of you for your patience with everything we went through. We know it was tricky being under construction; but guess what, we got through it!
The tournament calendar is very close to being published and released; count on this in the coming weeks. We look forward to our play days, association tournaments, as well as Club-run tournaments for 2023. The primary major events will more than likely be the same dates as they were last year. There will be slight date changes on The Lincoln County War and The Party Of Fore! We feel the date changes on these will better suit the turnout; stay tuned for all of these dates and the calendar to be out soon.
I want to reach out to my entire ALGCC golf staff for a heartfelt thank you on a great year! Each and every one of them worked hard to make this year special. From “fluffing and folding” merchandise, detailing golf carts, replacing cart batteries, teaching golf, running golf tournaments, picking range balls, assisting members, creating smiles, and working as a team, the list is endless. They are a special bunch; I owe them a debt of gratitude!
COMBINATION TEES: You spoke and we listened……Our golf staff is working on a few combination tees for both of our courses. The plan is to put these together and put them forth to the Golf and Greens Commission and eventually the Alto Board of Directors for approval. The current plan is to create a BLUE/WHITE, and a WHITE/GOLD combination set of tees which can be sloped, rated, and eventually used in tournaments if so chosen. We look forward to producing these for you!
HOLE IN ONE REPORT: We have just one Hole-in-One to report for December. On December 4th, at Alto, Jane Hoover aced the 3rd hole from 565 yards out with a pitching wedge. This brings her Hole-in-One total to 2. She was witnessed by Marty Disanto and Linda McKinley. Great shot, Jane, and GO HAWKEYES!
Are you in the Hole-in-One club? If you are interested, please contact Charisse Wadsworth at [email protected]. The program costs $5 per person and reloads each time a Hole-in-One participant makes a hole-in-one. Each golf shop has a simple form to fill out should you have one. Inquire at either golf shop for the form.
Again, thank you all for a great year. Wishing you all safe and happy holidays; on to 2023!
Sincerely,
John Rogers, PGA
Director of Golf
