PRACTICE!! It’s important. Golf is like anything else; the more you practice and play, the better you get. If you only play and not practice, it’s hard to get your fundamentals consistent. The start of your practice is important. Stretching is essential. If you don’t loosen things up, it’s easy to hurt yourself. There is a great training aid out there called an "Orange Whip." I have seen some of you with them and it’s a great tool. They are a longer "club" with a very flexible shaft and a heavy orange ball on the end of it. You make practice swings with it, and it stretches just about all your body. It helps you feel your turn better, and also can help club head speed to hit it farther. Google it to see what it is and if it’s for you. When you start to hit balls, ALWAYS start with the shortest club first. I see so many of you put the driver in your hand the first swing of the day. You are not loose enough for that club yet. Work your way down from short to long, with the driver being last, not first. Make easy chip and pitch swings to start and work your way up to your full club head speed. Then near the end of your session, play the golf course on the range. Change clubs every shot just like you do on the course. The swing shouldn’t change from club to club, but they are longer or shorter, with less loft or more loft. There is a different feel for every club. Balance out between practice and play. Only practice some days, and the days you do play, ALWAYS hit a few balls to get your body ready to play. A stiff back and body cannot swing efficiently.
