Alto Lakes Tennis Association (ALTA)

Alto Lakes Tennis Association welcomes all tennis players belonging to ALGCC. Our objective is to have fun while getting in some exercise.

  • ALTA members meet at the Alto tennis courts for open play on Monday/Wednesday/Friday mornings.
  • If you are interested in ladies' 3.5/4.0 doubles, the Outlaw court is reserved for doubles on Friday mornings.
  • Mixed doubles are scheduled for the Outlaw court on Monday mornings.
  • Men's doubles are on Wednesday mornings.
  • Court times: 9am-11am in the summer; 10am-noon in the winter.
As a member of ALTA, you are entitled to play on all the Open Play days; you are welcome to play doubles play days and mixers at no extra charge.

ALTA membership forms are in the Alto Office and should be submitted to Charisse Wadsworth for billing through your Alto membership account.  Dues are $10 per person on a calendar-year basis.  Please contact Elaine Wedgeworth ([email protected]) or any of the Alto Board members listed below with any questions.  We look forward to seeing you on our beautiful courts!

Tournaments/Event Schedules

We hold our annual membership meeting in June, followed by a "French Open" themed mixer, a "Breakfast at Wimbledon" mixer in July, an Interclub mixer in August and close out the busy summer with a "US Open" mixer.  Themed snacks and drinks are furnished at each mixer and fun for all levels of players. Guests are always welcome at any of our play days or mixers with a $10 guest fee.

Tennis players of the world, unite!  On March 3, we celebrate World Tennis Day!
 
On March 4th, 2013, the International Tennis Federation (ITL) organized the first World Tennis Day to be observed every first Monday in March. Its goal: to increase tennis participation around the world and learn about tennis history.

What–you’ve never heard of it?

Declared in 2003, National Play Tennis Day is celebrated on February 23, according to the website Holiday Calendar. “Play Tennis Day was officially recognized to encourage more people to play this classic and elegant sport.”

Happy New Year to all Alto Lakes Tennis Association members! 
 
What’s a tennis player’s best way to celebrate the New Year? With New Year’s resolutions, of course! 
 
And what could be a better resolution than revving up our fitness?  Alto Lakes Fitness Center’s very own Mckenzie Legg, National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Nutrition Coach and Pilates Instructor,  joins us again this month with  fitness tips for your healthiest New Year’s ever.

Dig out that Christmas sweater your kids gave you a coupla decades ago—you know, the one with the floppy reindeer antlers?  Or maybe the one from your brother-in-law with Santa guzzling brewskis.

October–when the leaves and license plates turn yellow….. 
 
With lingering memories of a noteworthy US Open, we tennis players look forward to autumn’s days of play unrestricted by summer’s heat or spring’s wind! 
 
And what a US Open it was. With favorites Carlos Alcaraz, Coco Gauff, Iga Swiatek and Novak Djokovic eliminated early, both men’s and women’s singles titles were up for grabs.  American hopes ran high for Jessica Pegula on the women’s side and Taylor Fritz on the men’s. Alas, both Americans were defeated in straight sets by their opponents in the finals, but they fought like champions.

Charles Dickens’s words are as relevant today as they were in 1859 when he wrote the first line of “A Tale of Two Cities.”  In both our community and in the tennis world, this summer has seen exhilarating highs and excruciating lows. But through it all, we have all survived.
